Notes
Each topic is the general model, in the order the ideas depend on each other. A page is one concept. Later notes are learnings that still apply outside the situation that produced them.
Check it out. Or don't. I'm not a cop.
Systems
- Linux: who owns a file, and who can touch it, on one machine and across machines.
- Containers: namespaces isolate a process; OCI is the standard around that.
- Docker: what privileged mode changes.
- Kubernetes: what a cluster is, then its components, API, and scheduling.
- Networking: one drawing of interfaces, routing, and a container, then a VPC as its own address space, then how a name becomes an address.
- AWS: the network, DNS, container services, and streams.
Languages
- Rust: the book, from variables through ownership to smart pointers.
- Scala: type classes and the hierarchy built on them, plus the Cats reading notes.
- Java: how a collection is walked, and how threads share state.
- Go: the tour of the language.
- Python: modules and imports.
Design
- System design: the approach, the tradeoffs, then the usual components.
- Data structures: sorts, trees, graphs, and the searches on them.
- Machine learning: from the cost function through classification to neural networks.
- Transactions: what a later read can expect to see.
- Math: bitwise tricks.
- APIs: SDK, API, and SPI.
Media
- Media: a codec compresses pictures or samples, then the video and audio codecs in use.
